Let’s get going on Mt. Graham again! Join SDMB for another trail maintenance weekend in the Pinalenos to keep re-opening and improving the amazing trails.
Please note that camping and work plans are subject to change based on weather and snow conditions.
THE WORK PLAN: The primary work plan is to finish maintenance work on Arcadia National Recreation Trail. Arcadia is an amazing trail that descends nearly 2,800 feet over 5.2 miles, with easy shuttle access and camping at the top and bottom. It’s going to be an absolute blast to ride! Our backup work plan is to do trail maintenance on Round the Mountain and Noon Creek trails, which are part of a great lower mountain loop and an epic shuttle descent which also includes Heliograph Peak, Arcadia NRT, ad Ladybug trails for a total of 11 miles and 6,500 feet of descent!
CAMPING: Camping is available Friday 2/25 and Saturday 2/26 at Noon Creek Campground (free for volunteers). Campground info and directions are here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/.../coronado/recreation/recarea/...
SCHEDULE: We’ll leave camp at 9AM on Saturday morning and 8AM on Sunday morning, and will plan to work until early afternoon each day. For those who want to ride, we can set up shuttles on Saturday afternoon.
WHAT TO BRING: SDMB will bring all the tools. Volunteers need to bring:
-Food, water, and camping gear (plan for overnight temps in the 30’s!)
-Work gloves, long pants, closed-toe shoes (boots are encouraged), and appropriate sun protection for trail work.
-A pack with at least 2 liters of water capacity (bottles or bladder)
OTHER INFO: The Forest Service requires head and eye protection for all volunteer events. You can bring a hard hat or bike helmet (we’ll have loaners too). For eye protection, sunglasses or eyeglasses are OK. And bring some firewood if you want to contribute to a campfire!
