Dec 31 - AZT shuttle with SAMBA

9am @ Pistol Hill Trailhead OR 930am @ Gabe Zimmerman Trailhead

Meetup event info/RSVP here

Plan on 23 miles of beautiful XC trail along the Arizona Trail.

We are planning a New Year's Eve Shuttle Ride on the AZ Trail from the Lakes Rd to the Pistol Hill trail head with an option to stop at Gabe Zimmerman for those who would like a shorter ride.

We will plan to load shuttle vehicles at the Pistol Hill trailhead at 9am and at Gabe Zimmerman around 930. Please be ready on time. Since we are planning on 2 shuttle locations, it would be great if everyone could post below which trailhead they will be at. You could also do a self-shuttle with a friend, leaving a vehicle at the start and finish locations. As a last resort, just drive up to the Lakes Rd parking area and park your vehicle. I'm sure that someone will take you back up to your vehicle after the ride.

At the moment we have room for 18 bikes and riders in the shuttle vehicles. We might need more shuttle vehicles depending on the number of riders and 1 or 2 volunteers to take the shuttle drivers back to Lakes Rd after the ride.

Bring some food, beverages and a chair for after the ride!

From the Lakes Rd to Pistol Hill Rd will be about 23 miles with some additional climbing heading north from Gabe Z.

From the Lakes Rd to the Gabe Zimmerman trailhead is about 13.5 miles, mostly downhill.

Parking area off of the Lakes Rd: From the intersection of I-10 and AZ 83, drive south for 7.2 miles on AZ 83 to milepost 51.4. Turn right (west) and go through a gate on an unmarked, rough dirt road. Turn immediately to your left and go up the hill to a grassy parking area.
